Legendary Black Caviar Delivers Second Foal

Black Caviar foal 2015Champion mare Black Caviar has delivered a colt to Golden Slipper-winning stallion Sebring overnight.
The foal is predominantly bay in colour (brown with dark legs) with white facial markings, and one of the mare’s owners, Pam Hawkes, said in a radio interview that he has his mum’s “big bottom”.
Part-owner Neil Werrett said Black Caviar “is quite maternalistic. I’m looking at her now and she is standing over the foal.”
Given its breeding and potential to be a sire as well, the colt already has a multi-million dollar price tag.
The foal has an older half-sister by Black Caviar and Exceed And Excel, and all early signs suggest he is healthy and well.
Black Caviar came through the foaling process taking it all in her stride and she ate up not long after.
Coincidentally, the colt was born on the same day as his sire, who won the world’s richest juvenile event at Rosehill in 2008.
Black Caviar, who was unbeaten in a race career over 25 starts, ranks among Australia’s greatest racehorses, after winning 15 Group One races.
