Adena Springs and Holy Helena named Sovereign Awards Winners

Adena Springs and Holy Helena named Sovereign Awards WinnersAdena Springs homebred Holy Helena was voted champion 3-year-old filly and Adena Springs was honored as Outstanding Breeders at the 43rd Sovereign Awards ceremony at Palais Royale in Toronto. Holy Helena soared to the top of her generation last summer with a one-length victory in the Woodbine Oaks in just her third career start. For an encore she triumphed over males in the $1 million Queen's Plate by 3 1/2 lengths.
Out of the Holy Bull mare Holy Grace, Holy Helena is the 5th champion sired by Ghostzapper and the 13th champion bred by Adena Springs. She's off to big start in 2018 with a pair of victories at Gulfstream Park, including The Very One S. (G3).
The exploits of Holy Helena surely helped voters award Adena Springs the Outstanding Breeder trophy for the third straight season and for the 12th time overall. Other Adena Springs Canadian bred stakes winners in 2017 included Shaman Ghost, a 2016 Sovereign Award champion by Ghostzapper who captured the historic Santa Anita H. (G1), Shakhimat, winner of the Tropical Park Turf (G3) and Shady Well Stakes winner Glamanation, the first stakes winner by Point of Entry.
