Japan's Admire Rakti with Jockey Zac Purton wins $3m Caulfield Cup

Trained by Tomoyuki Umeda, Admire Rakti was Japan's second horse entered in the Caulfield Cup after Japan's early favourite Bande was forced to scratch. ABC News reported that winning trainer Tomoyuki Umeda was concerned with Admire Rakti's 58kg weight.

"I wasn't sure about it,” Umeda said. “But he clearly likes Australia.”

"If everything goes well, hopefully his luck keeps going to the Melbourne Cup."

Australian-born Jockey Zac Purton has achieved great success in Hong Kong but had never won the Caulfield. He travelled to Japan on Hong Kong's off-season hoping to get a ride in the Melbourne Cup, and if all goes well with Admire Rakti, he will be his jockey for the race that stops a nation in early November.
