Dennis Mills talks with John Oakley on AM640

As we head into a new year, please take a moment to listen to John Oakley`s interview of Racing Future CEO Dennis Mills who explains the importance of re-setting priorities to focus on rural Ontario. While there is uncertainty right now amongst everyone involved in Ontario horse racing, it is critical that we all take note: slots will remain at the racetracks, particularly Woodbine. What will change -- and is being negotiated right now -- is the percentage of slots revenue that each partner (the tracks & horsemen, the Government, and the municipalities) will receive going forward. Time is of the essence with these negotiations: broodmares are being booked now and broodmare owners are looking for stability in racing jurisdictions. We want our owners to feel confident about Ontario horse racing and book here rather than send their mares to New York or Maryland (which recently finalized a 10 year agreement).
